It seems that today many Christians prefer to be a world-savvy believer instead of a spiritual and pure Christian. We are part of this world, and some are forgetting that this world is not our true home. When we see Christians being persecuted for precisely following the Bible, when believers are being condemned for standing up for their faith, we may shy away from proclaiming our beliefs. We have lost our mind for the things above and are focusing more on the things of this earth.
When we become Christians we should start living for Christ and start thinking about heaven, seeking always the things above. Why then is it so difficult to forget this world? In John 17:14 we read the promise, “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” We were never assured a simple and loving life. We were promised hardship and trying times. Despite all this we have the ultimate hope and redemption in Christ Jesus. In this sermon with pastor Andreas Mellas we will rediscover and remind ourselves what it means to be set apart from the world to be seekers of a heavenly country.
