When we encounter a highly debated topic, how do we proceed? In this 8-part series with Doctor Subodh Pandit, we discover what it means to become inquiring inquirers. Instead of jumping into a topic head first, let’s learn some techniques and methods to inquire thoughtfully, carefully, and fairly.
This seminar has been deliberately designed to encourage critical thinking in regards to a common topic that appears to elude universal agreement at present. There are many belief systems in the world, and the five main religious systems have some similarities and share a lot of the same principles. In this investigative series, you will compare and contrast the main religions in a rational and logical way. Doctor Pandit leads us through the main religions and highlights his own search for the truth. After learning to be a true inquiring inquirer, decide for yourself what is true and what is false.
Lecture 1 – Theism & Atheism, Reason and Faith – 105 Minutes
What does it mean to truly search for truth? Doctor Pandit reveals how to become inquiring inquirers to seek truth.
Belief is a choice. No one can go inside your head to change your mind about what you believe. Not even God wants to coerce, force, or brainwash us into loving or choosing Him. Whether we choose atheism, agnosticism, or theism, those beliefs are born out of our own free will. We are free to make our choices based on our beliefs, and our beliefs and faith is our own private property. No one can touch it unless we allow them to. So every day, we choose to be a believer or unbeliever. Just because we choose God doesn’t mean we can’t change our mind, and the same thing applies to unbelievers.
So with this full freedom of choice, let us have a civilized discussion about whether theism or atheism is the most credible claim. Doctor Pandit reviews some key terms that atheists and believers disagree about, and leads us into a meaningful and thoughtful discourse about the evidence, neutrality, and confirmation bias about faith. Pandit teaches us what it means to be a true inquiring inquirer and to seek truth in our lives.
Lecture 2 – Scrutiny of Relativism & Pluralism – 45 Minutes
If every religion is fair, true, and equal, how can each one claim to be absolute and the only way to salvation? Doctor Pandit evaluates pluralism and shows how it is incompatible with truth.
Many people argue that Christians and atheists shouldn’t even discuss faith, they should leave religion out of dialogue because it is exclusive and truth is relative. What holds true for me doesn’t necessarily ring true for someone else, right? So is there no absolute truth? Is everything subjective? Doctor Pandit evaluates the idea of relativism. If relativism is true, then perhaps it logically follows that anything goes and everything is therefore acceptable.
Some people also argue that all religions lead to the same end. This pluralism is becoming more popular in our modern day, and sometimes this equality of religions sounds appealing. Listen and learn about how we can properly address why every religion claims to be the only way to salvation. How is this incompatible with pluralism? Hear Doctor Pandit reveal the logical and reasonable explanation for why relativism and pluralism is not compatible with truth.
Lecture 3 – Comparison of Religious Literature – 60 Minutes
Among all the religions in the world today, which one has been proven time and time again to be the most trustworthy?
In our modern age, we have five large and prominent religions in the world. Are the histories behind these religions trustworthy? Doctor Pandit evaluates Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam to show the differences between them. If each and every one of these religions claim to be the one and only way to salvation, we must investigate carefully to discover the differences behind these belief systems. Pandit shows compelling historical evidence to sway us in favor of the truth: history proves the veracity of the Bible.
Get ready to educate yourselves on the past and present differences of the most popular religions in the world and decide for yourself what the truth really is.
Lecture 4 – Comparison of the Founders 1 – 31 Minutes
We’ve all made some high claims about ourselves, maybe exaggerating on our resumes or boasting to our friends. However, Jesus made one high and nearly unbelievable claim: that He is the son of God! How does Jesus’s claim stand up to His life?
In the fourth part of Come Search With Me, Doctor Pandit investigates the claims by the various founders of the most prominent religious writings. Who are these founders and leaders in Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism? During our deep search, discover that Christianity has the highest claim. Jesus claims to be the son of God!
Learn how we can honestly inquire about Jesus’s life and the writings of the Bible. Perhaps, as many people believe, Jesus was just a good moral teacher but not the son of God. Pandit reveals his own searching methods to help us glean that we must accept that either He is, or He isn’t the son of God. Using credible sources, Pandit leads us through a labyrinth of claims to deductively conclude the truth.
Lecture 5 – Comparison of the Founders 2 – 54 Minutes
If we are to choose a religion to follow, how are we to choose? Perhaps looking to the religious founders or leaders we can find a solution. Let us compare the lives of famed religious figures to see which one is worth following.
In the fifth part of Come Search With Me, Doctor Pandit brings the life record of religious founders into question. Did the lives of these religious leaders coincide with their written teachings? As we delve into historical data, discover how the majority of these men did not live according to what they preached. Their teachings did not match their lives! Oftentimes these men were plagued with sinful youths and were surrounded by sensuality and temptation. All of these leaders but one were imperfect. They led sinful lives and all had mistakes that required cleansing.
Jesus had no shortcomings. His was the only life and He is the only man whose theory matched His practice. He has set a perfect example for us, so He has the one and only right to ask us to follow Him. Pandit leads us through an investigation into the childhood, youth, and adulthood of the major religious leaders, finally concluding with the one man we should follow.
Lecture 6 – Post Death Scene – Climate after Founders Death – 53 Minutes
Only one man can claim to have risen after death. Can we believe in this miracle?
Out of all the religious founders in the world, Jesus’ crucifixion and death is unquestionably the worst. It was humiliating, shameful, dirty, and painful. However, compared to the other religious founders, Jesus was the only completely innocent man. Why should the most innocent man die the most horrible death? Doctor Pandit evaluates Jesus’ death and what came afterward. How was the world affected by the deaths of major religious figures?
In other religions, leaders die and someone else takes their place and rises to power. There is always someone new to look up to. But Jesus claims He’ll always be with us. Many people have come up with theories to disprove Jesus’ resurrection. Perhaps Jesus didn’t die on the cross and just fainted. Perhaps someone stole Jesus’ body. Pandit uses his deductive inquiry skills to debunk each of these theories to reveal the miraculous truth that Jesus did die, and did rise again.
Lecture 7 – Sequel to the Search – A Review – 38 Minutes
Discover why Christianity stands apart and is so wonderfully different from the other religious belief systems in the world.
Many people think that Christianity is the best religion or somehow superior to all the other belief systems in the world. However, Doctor Pandit explores the ideas that Christianity isn’t necessarily better than other religions, but it is instead entirely different. Christianity stands alone and apart from other beliefs. It is so special and unique that we must investigate it to discover why it is so different. In this seventh lecture from the Come Search With Me series, Pandit leads us into further exploration of what makes Christianity, and Christ, so special.
Every religion asserts itself to be unique, and claim they have special factors. However, we will learn that there are many aspects to each religion that are not unique. In fact, most religions boast the same fantastic things. Some factors may include miracles, supreme beings, and incarnation. Christianity is distinct because it is the only religion where these so-called unique factors come in a straightforward and clear presentation. Unlike other religious writings, Christianity’s history isn’t myth or legend, the Bible is historically credible. Only the Bible challenges us to test it to prove it true. Through prophecy we can discern truth or error for ourselves, and time and time again the Bible passes our tests.
Jesus wasn’t highborn, and was crucified in a humiliating manner and in great pain. He didn’t have an exciting celebrity life, but he is the Only one. He spoke the greatest words, has the most lasting influence worldwide, addressed the deep needs of those around him, and conquered death. No other religion can claim these unique factors and continue to prove itself true.
Lecture 8 – The Supreme Transaction – 54 Minutes
Do you think you understand true love? God’s unfailing love surpasses any and all expectation.
In this final lecture from the Come Search With Me series with Doctor Pandit, we explore the core of the Christian message, which Doctor Pandit refers to as “The Transaction.” What is this important transaction and how has it impacted all Christians and our salvation?
In life we have rules, rewards, and retribution. The only thing that breaks up this trio is mercy. Mercy changes everything, and Jesus’ mercy on our lives has turned everything upside down. Doctor Pandit proposes that mercy is borne out of Christ’s love for us. Love has many definitions and meanings, especially in the Bible. Out of all the different types of love outlined in scripture, Agape love is the only love that never diminishes. People may fall in and out of love for people and of things all the time. Agape love never has a reason to abandon us because this unique love never needed a reason to exist in the first place. The Lord’s extensive and expansive love for us is incomprehensible and everlasting. This love is the only reason we were shown mercy when we did not deserve it.
Jesus endured torture, nails, blood, and the cross. However, just these things alone did now guarantee our salvation. So which aspects of His death paid for our sins? Consider how Jesus’ death was different than every other martyr’s death on earth. Jesus was willing to die, and He wanted to take our place. We tortured Jesus, we rejected him, and we continue to deny him time and time again even to this day. But He still loves us, and bears our sins for us. His Agape love is endless and boundless. In every other religion we are supposed to bring sacrifices to their gods of incense, animals, and fruit. In Christianity the sacrificial system is different: God made a sacrifice for us, He gave His one and only son to die for us. This ultimate sacrifice shows perfect Agape love. So let us make our own decision and consider the transaction. Is it worth it? Let us think carefully and prayerfully and choose Him.
